Inland Water Rescue and Emergencies (IWR)
8hrs

From large lakes to the major rivers, New England is home to a significant number of recreational water sports destinations. Emergency service agencies must be prepared to respond to such incidents with speed and efficiency. This 1-day course provides students with effective strategies for responding to incidents involving watercraft collisions, swimmers in distress, and on-board medical emergencies. Students will be presented with multiple realistic scenarios to respond to, utilizing host department and WTR watercraft. Students wishing to operate watercraft must possess either a Connecticut Safe Boaters Certificate or documented equivalent training by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ).
